The 100 Year Wait

On the cliffs, Marila looks over the vast clear ocean. She watches two lovers walk along the beach. Her heart aches deep for her long awaited mate. She left the ocean for 100 years to find the one. Today she’s to return without her mate. She descends to the water’s edge with a heavy heart.  Marila rests on the sands as her body begins its change. She crawls into the comforts of her home.

Till something fast swims past her. Marila notices a merman smiling at her.

He takes her hand in his. Instantly she knew her 100 year answer.
